Desolation Angel Radio Jan. 20th 2023 - Comstock 75 Breakfast Club

This week, in Pt. 10 of From There to Here, as I try to figure out how I got from there to here, we have an installment of the Comstock 75 Breakfast Club, with the people from last week, Diane Parker, John Stanaszek, Gina Hammond, Tom Bennett, Steve Schultz and this week we were joined by Paula Chase and Jill Baskerville. It all had a profound effect on me, and the conversation, an hour's worth, is fulfilling, delightful and fun. The music this week is a good selection of artists from back then and now, doing covers, every one of them, and closes with 2 Lucero songs, that for anyone who knows me, anyone who listens to the show, capture just about exactly where I'm at. 2 hours worth of music, conversation, and most importantly, old friends who aren't afraid to tell one another how much we love one another, and how much we still mean to one another. Comstock 75, there's news in here on how it will be ongoing and become something you canbve part of it too. Enjoy

Desolation Angel Radio - From There to Here Pt. 9

A really special episode as we pick the series back up started in the Fall. Now past my birthday, the holidays and my sobriety birthday, we go further back to people who are really important to me, and who are "those" people. People I went to high school with, and have kept a connection with over 50+ years and who know me well, and knew me when, A completely unedited hour with Tom Bennett, John Stanaszek, Diane Parker (LaPiana), Steve Schultz, and Gina Hammond (Thomas), just us being us, and picking that connection back up with no drop, taking all of about 30 seconds to sync back in.. In many ways, some of the people who helped shape who I am today. Good music, picked by them from that era, picked by them. And Comstock folks, especially you, if you listen, news on how you're invited to come on the show, and how we're going to do that. For those in my life today, some pretty good insight into "Has he always been like that?" (spoiler alert: Yup).

Desolation Angel Radio - Christmas 2022
Sunday Dec 11, 2022

A Christmas show. I haven't done a Christmas show in 6-7 years I think, but it's time. No, you won't hear Mariah or Wham, but you will hear the Muppets, music from A Charlie Brown Christmas, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Louis Armstrong, Elvis, Darlene Love, Frank Sinatra, and more. And, you will hear the true story of where the Nomad Project came from, how it started, why I did it, and that, my friends, is a Christmas story. Enjoy

A end of week show, filled with music, and some very important points concerning the previous interviews and interviews upcoming, and some messages. If you're one of the 700 from the last 2 1/2 years, one of the Heron Crew, one of the long standing friends, one of the Comstock crew from back in the 70's and 80's, part of the crew I've built over the last few years, the last 2 songs especially are for you, every word. This one was very special to me. An hour spent with one of my oldest friends, (51 years of friendship) Craig, and with Matt and Pooch, all of us going back to the 70's and 80's as friends. They knew me when, and working with them in the band they had instilled in me a love of Americana and folk. For those who know me today, they know all the secrets and all the dirt, and we weren't afraid to talk about any of it, and it all came out. You get to here where the Kip you know today came from, and get to hear about some of my (mis)adventures. What you really get to hear is a lot of love and history, and some great music that they turned me on to from Dan Fogelberg to Guy Clark to Jerry Jeff Walker to Ray Wylie Hubbard to John Prine and more. Enjoy

Tonight's episode has some great music from Nina Simone, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Valerie June, Grace Potter and more. The centerpiece of it as an hour long interview I did with 16-17 voices representing a much larger number of people I was privileged to work with throughout 2020 & 2021. Some of the finest human beings I've ever met. Their words. Not the mechanics, or the 'what', but the 'who', and the feelings it brought about for us, and the bonds forged during that time, all while never meeting physically, but working together, day after day, tirelessly. Some of the best humans I've ever met.
Enjoy
