The show took a little different turn last night. We partied, and we partied hard. Yes, we played much of the music that we normally play here. But the rainout on Wednesday of the Tigers-Yankees game put the game on Thursday afternoon, and as soon as the last out was recorded, we hijacked the airwaves and the studio and went on the air a half hour early, and we took over the hour after our normal slot too. Yes, we managed to get a lot of the artists in, and the musical style that we love here, but we also brought a ton of surprises to the party, and we wound up with an incredibly eclectic mix that ranged all over the map from Motown to Bob Seger to Doop & The Inside Outlaws, Alison Lewis, Katie Grace, Matt Dmits, Whitey Morgan and the 78's, Michigan artists all and fit it all in there, we even managed to get in some of artists that we normally play here and I thought it was important to play: 3 Skulls and The Truth, Reckless Kelly, Lucero and a few more. No playlist listing this week, instead, it's just a party, a damn good one, as I got to remember 1968, 1984 and now. . .2012. Remembered growing up in Comstock, in Michigan, remembered a lot of you and celebrated. . . .enjoy!
As always, we here at Desolation Angel Radio thank you, the listener for your support and your help. Without you, there's no show, and no radio station. Be back next week, as always, Tuesday and Thursday. Also, as always, this is free to you. The price? Share this as many ways as humanly possible and spread the gospel of Desolation Angel Radio. . . .

Desolation Angel Radio hit the airwaves last night. There was a debate going, did we care? Hell, no! What we cared about was the music, the bands, the artists that pump the blood through our veins. . .and baseball, of course, which is almost as important as rock and roll. The playlist:
Little Richard - Long Tall Sally
Jerry Lee Lewis & Solomon Burke - Railroad to Heaven
Wanda Jackson - Graveyard Shift
Possessed by Paul James - Four Men From The Row
Molly Gene One Whoman Band - White Girl From Missouri
Father John Misty - I'm Writing A Novel
Jamey Johnson feat. Alison Kraus - Make The World Go Away
Lauderdale - Stars Fell
Matthew Dean Herman - Soule Lake Hotel
Rosie Flores - Working Girl's Guitar
Murder By Death - Ghost Fields
Doop & The Inside Outlaws - Everett Belcher
As always, thanks for being part of what we do here, and thanks for supporting these artists and their work, these bands and their passion, these musicians who put it all on the line, and play it raw, intense, passionate, real, authentic, true, close to the bone and down in the blood. As always, thanks for being someone who supports this, remember to go out this weekend and see someone live and local who plays originals. Share this broadcast as many ways as you possibly know how; social media like Facebook and Twitter, e-mail, word of mouth. See you Thursday

Desolation Angel family, friends and neighbors. 2012 has been one of the best years for music that I can remember since sometime in the mid-70's. Some fantastic music has come out, and this is just an overview of some of the best of the best so far this year. Truthfully, it's pretty complete, since there's only 4 albums left that I'm looking forward to; Wanda Jackson, Jamey Johnson's tribute to Hank Cochran, Cody Canada & The Departed's Adventus and Gary Clark, Jr's new one. What's on this playlist isn't the only music I've heard that I think is great, not the only great albums and CD's to come out, it's the music that throughout the year has stood out as some of the best work I've heard this year:
Ray Wylie Hubbard - South Of the River
Shooter Jennings - Daddy's Hands
Ryan Bingham - Never Ending Show
American Aquarium - Casualties
Chris Knight - You Can't Trust No One
Waylon Jennings - Goin' Down Rockin'
Uncle Lucius - Somewhere Else
Lincoln Durham - Last Red Dawn
Justin Townes Earle - Baby's Got a Bad Idea
Jason Eady - AM Country Heaven
Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard - A Horse Called Music
Lucero - Sometimes
John Fullbright - All The Time In The World
As always, thanks for being part of what we do here. Please go buy these artists CD's straight from their websites (truthfully, there isn't a lot of it here you can find at your local big box store). Share this site and this show as many ways as you know how. I produce it myself, and don't charge for it, and keep it on the air by funding it myself with no commercials and no sponsors. All I ask of you is that you share it; by e-mail, using the little Green Share button below, using FB, Twitter, Google + and telling your friends. Remember that Desolation Angel Radio can be found every Tuesday and Thursday night at 8 Eastern/7 Central on the Outlaw Radio Chicago network as a live nationwide broadcast, and the podcast is always here and can be subscribed to in iTunes. Support your local musicians and go see someone live and local, who plays originals, this weekend.

The Thursday night service of Desolation Angel Radio continued a two-part series started on Tuesday Oct. 2nd. ( I highly recommend listening to it first.) We did a Master's class this week, music as done by accomplished professionals. Tight bands, excellent songwriting, musicianship and craftsmanship. On Thursday, we did some newer work, from people who probably won't get played on any Top 40 station; country, rock or otherwise, anytime soon:
John Hiatt - We're Alright Now
Dwight Yoakam - Rock It All Away
The Time Jumpers (Vince Gill, Dennis Crouch and company) - Texoma Bound
Willie Nelson (w/Lukas Nelson) - My Window Faces The South
Waylon Jennings - Wrong Road to Nashville
Mark Knopfler - I Used To Could
Van Morrison - Mystic of The East
The Blasters - Well Oh Well
Chuck Prophet - Loving Her Was Easier
Gram Parsons - Love Hurts
Townes VanZandt - Pancho & Lefty
As always, thanks for being a member of the faithful, and part of what we do here. You can find Desolation Angel Radio on it's live broadcast every Tuesday and Thursday at 8 Eastern, on Outlaw Radio Chicago and the broadcasts are always bundled up here in a podcast, and can be subscribed to in iTunes as well. Share this with as many people as possible, using social media or email and enjoy.

Fellow travelers, friends, families, brothers and sisters - The Desolation Angel gospel was delivered on Tuesday night and it was a stunner. Delving into the Old Testament of Rock and Roll, Country, Blues and Soul a two-part, two-night Master's class was delivered in musicianship, craftsmanship, songwriting, tight bands, and lessons in how it should be done. The discovery of a lost scroll, the last recordings of Waylon Jennings, in his newly released CD, Goin' Down Rockin' prompted this little lesson, and it was powerful:
Billy Joe Shaver (w/ Big & Rich) - Live Forever
Waylon Jennings - Belle Of The Ball
The Highwaymen - The Road Goes On Forever
Willie Nelson (w/ Lukas Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Kris Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson) - Roll Me Up
Steve Earle - The Unrepentant
Bobbie Gentry - Ode To Billie Joe
Janis Joplin (Kris Kristofferson, Fred Foster) - Me and Bobby McGee
Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man
Tony Joe White - Willie and Laura Mae Jones
Ray Wylie Hubbard - The Messenger
Joe South - Games People Play
Johnny Cash - Further On Up The Road
As always, thanks for being part of the faithful and supporting independent radio, independent artists and musicians who are raw, soulful, authentic, real, passionate, true, down in the bone and close to the blood. Desolation Angel Radio broadcasts live on the Outlaw Radio Chicago network on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8E/7C and you can always stop by here for the podcast of the show, and/or subscribe to it in iTunes. Spread the word and share it using social media; FB, Twitter, Google + and bring your friends to the party.

Rock and roll is in fine hands fellow members of the Desolation Angel congregation. Too often, I hear members of my generation, the Baby Boom, hang on to the "old stuff". Got news, if people hadn't gotten out of the way, and realized that they were only links in a chain, and it was their job to pass it on, then there never would have been anything new. These people, young bands, all of them, prove that rock and roll, country, blues, all of it, are in fine, fine hands.
Cory Brannan - Prettiest Waitress in Memphis
American Aquarium - Abe Lincoln
Sunday Valley - Jesus Boogie
Tim Montana & His Shrednecks - Too Far Gone
Uncle Lucius - Set Ourselves Free
Gaslight Anthem - Desire
American Mars - Who Here?
Lucero - On My Way Downtown
Will Hoge - Founding Fathers
I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House - Walkin'
Delta Spirit - Tellin' The Mind
Foster Timms - Lou Reed State of Mind
As always, thank for listening and being part of the Desolation Angel Radio family, you're the reason that all of us do this. With the recent merger of 2 record labels, Universal and EMI, leaving only 3 record labels, period. Independent radio is more important than ever. Share this as many ways as you know how, and turn your friends on to it. Find Desolation Angel Radio on FB and "Like" us there, and share this using FB, Twitter, Google+, Reddit, anything possible. Keep the faith, and thanks for being loyal to the music and it's spirit.

The challenge tonight was to kick old school, like college FM radio stations, and the Desolation Angel Delivered. 3 songs, 3 bands, 3 guitar players, 1 hour. It kicked serious ass:
Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love
The Allman Brothers Band - Whipping Post
Derek & The Dominos - Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?
As always, thanks for being part of this, and part of the independent, renegade, rogue and outlaw radio movement.
