Fellow members of the high church of rock and roll, fellow members of the congregation of soulfullness, roots and truth, brothers and sisters of the gospel of the Desolation Angel, the Thursday night service was held, souls were saved through the salvation of 3-bar blues, songwriting, 4 chords, a head on an amp with the voltage turned down, gritty down to saturate those tubes and the message was delivered:
The pre-show, if you tuned in, was some old Dire Straits, and some old Allman Brothers straight off the boards.
Jerry Jeff Walker - Tryin' To Hold The Wind Up With A Sail
Townes VanZandt - Lungs
Gram Parsons - Streets of Baltimore
Kacey Musgraves - Merry Go 'Round
JD Mcpherson - Dimes for Nickels
Kasey Chambers & Shane Nichols - Wreck and Ruin
Whitey Morgan & The 78's - Long Road Home
Doop & The Inside Outlaws - Sittin' Here
Chris Dupont - A Thousand Miles
Tom Russell - The Death of Jimmy Martin
John Prine - Jesus, The Missing Years
The White Buffalo - The Whistler
Thanks so much for being part of what we're doing here. Whether you know it, or not, you're part of a revolution in music. The independent broadcasters, like this one, are trying to keep the music and the songs alive and keep the corporate labels and radio stations from swallowing music whole and turning it all into pod-people, cookie cutter, sound alike music, and by listening you're supporting that. Now, as the producer, director and host of the program, I don't charge you for landing here on the podcast site and listening to the music, or jumping the live feed into the studio during the broadcast, but what I'd like you to do is to share this as many ways as humanly possible; FB, Twitter, Google +, email and get the word out. I can depend on you to do that, can't I?
Peace,
Kip

Desolation Angel Radio rolled on into town on Tuesday, and we hit it hard -
The pre-show - Gary Clark Jr., if you've not heard this young man, I've got bootlegs and music straight off his soundboard that most folks don't have, and a more fitting artist to play on what was Jimi Hendrix's 70th birthday, you couldn't find.
The show itself:
Steve Forbert - Baby, I Know
Mike June & The Wilson Street Refugees - Hey, Woody Guthrie
John Wesley Harding - There's a Starbucks (Where A Starbucks Used To Be)
Chatham County Line - Route 23
Rodriguez - Inner City Blues
Gary Clark Jr. - Glitter Ain't Gold
Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit - Outfit
CW Ayon - End of My Rope
The Believers - Railroad Spikes and Shotgun Shells
Will Hoge - Jesus Came To Tennessee
Thanks for being part of the revolution in radio, in broadcasting, in music. Thanks for supporting independent broadcasters who won't take advertisers and sponsors, won't let ClearChannel dictate their playlists. Thanks for supporting artists who won't play by the big 3 labels rules. Share this as many ways as you possibly can; FB, Twitter, Google +, Email. That's the price I ask of you for putting the show together and broadcasting it, nothing more, and it's not much of anything to ask from you if you enjoy the music and the show. Please don't just consider doing it, but do it, and support the music.

Thursday night, Thanksgiving night, we hit the air live, and did the second show of Desolation Angel Radio anniversary week, wrapped around my birthday, and the holiday weekend. The playlist ranged all over the map:
Pre-show: - Jason Isbell (Live in Alabama) - Danko/Manuel
The show:
Graham Parker and The Rumour - Long Emotional Ride
Lucero - On My Way Downtown
Lindi Ortega - Murder of Crows
Tin Pan - Summertime
Chris Knight - Nothing On Me

Tift Merritt - Still Not Home
Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil - She Has Her Moments
Flogging Molly - This Present State of Grace
Ryan Bingham - Flower Bomb
Thank for being a member of the faithful, for being part of the congregation of the high church of Rock and Roll, where we know that the gospel of the Desolation Angel reaches down into the soul, and connects everyone through music, through rock and roll, through roots, blues, country, bluegrass, mountain music, through passion, authenticity, musicianship, craftsmanship, raw, true, close to the bone and down in the blood music.
Please share this if you're a regular listener, through email, FB, Twitter, Google +, however you can. In this day and age of corporate control of labels, and national computerized playlists on ClearChannel radio stations, it's desperately important to these artists, bands and musicians to get their music out there, and this is the model that's working to do it. Thank you in advance for doing that. Thank you for another great year at Desolation Angel Radio, and in my life, you're the ones who really make it all happen, and it is all for you.
Peace out,
Kip

Hello there. Desolation Angel Radio hit the airwaves on Tuesday night and we had us a time. It's anniversary week here at the show, and Wednesday is my 55th birthday, and there's that whole Thursday thing going on. It would have been tremendously easy to take the night off, phone this one in, do a "where it came from" or "best of" show with a playlist that I'd slapped together in 3 minutes. . .but that's not how I roll, nor is it how the show rolls. . .and as it turned out, if you haven't been listening lately, or if you want to get a flavor for what the show is, or want to turn a friend onto Desolation Angel Radio. . .this would be the one:
The Rolling Stone - Tumbling Dice
Cody Canada & The Departed - Worth The Fight
Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires - The Red, Red Dirt of Home
Ray Wylie Hubbard - Train Yard
Rosie Flores - Little But I'm Loud
American Aquarium - Abe Lincoln
Lilly Hiatt & The Dropped Ponies - Big Bad Wolf
Bow Thayer - Wingless Angels
Gretchen Peters - Woman On The Wheel
Frank Turner - Reasons Not To Be An Idiot
The Band (previously unreleased, straight off the boards at The Last Waltz) - The Weight
Bruce - Atlantic City
Thanks to you, this show has an anniversary week. Thanks to you, these artists, these bands, these songs - all get more ears and more attention paid to what they're doing. Thanks to you, Desolation Angel Radio exists, and I thank you - personally, sincerely and from the bottom of my heart for making it what it is, and for supporting the show, and this type of music.
I had a friend (well, several friends, actually) who were listening last night, and said after it was over "this is the show, the episode I"m using to introduce people to the show, it rocked". Thank you. Share this as many ways as possible. Send the link in email, use the Share button. Share it on all your social media - on FB, on Twitter, on Google +, using email, but let's continue to spread the full tilt boogie, pedal to metal, balls out rock and roll gospel of the Desolation Angel.

The Thursday night service at the flying circus, rodeo and rock and roll tent revival show known as Desolation Angel Radio had a couple of themes. It was regional, with a focused lens on Michigan, and it brought out those independent artists, the folks without a label who work, sacrifice and give it all for their art. A couple of songwriters collectives were represented, and a whole lot of talent was on aural display:
American Mars - Long Walk Home
Dragon Wagon - County Line
Doop & The Inside Outlaws - Saturday
Joshua Davis - Delta 88
Lindsay Lou and The Flatbellys - Lemon Squeezy
Katie Grace - Can't Save Them All
Chris Bathgate - Last Parade on Ann St.
The Ben Daniels Band - Set "Em On The Run
53 Willys - Every Girl
Misty Lyn & The Big Beautiful - Rita Mae
Alison Lewis and String of Ponies - Detroit or Buffalo
Rootstand - The Captain
Matt Jones & The Reconstruction - Special Forces
Matt Dmits - St. Christopher
Regular listeners of the show know my standard lines. There's only 3 corporate behemoth labels left, and ClearChannel has over 3,000 radio stations with national disc jockeys setting the playlist. This year, 10,000 CD's were released, but only 1,000 even hit the 10,000 unit sales mark where an artist even starts to break even. Independent artists; true, raw, passionate, real, down in the blood and close to the bone artists are our heart and soul and need to be supported. Listen to this show, buy the band's CD's straight from their website, go see them live. Go see someone this weekend local and live who plays originals. Respect the music, respect the artist. Buy the music.
I put Desolation Angel Radio on the air as it's producer/program director/host/engineer and owner free to you, no commercials, no sponsors and the price that I'm asking isn't big. Share this. Share it as many ways as possible; FB, Twitter, Google+, Reddit, email, tin cans tied together with string, however. Thanks for being part of the Desolation Angel Radio congregation and spreading the gospel of roots, blues, country, rock and soul.
Peace out
Kip

Well then, the show goes on forever and the party never ends. We took a serious look at songwriters, and how they convey, through music, stories. In some cases, novels, or entire portraits or landscapes, but master songwriters and storytellers all. If you tuned in early, you got to hear the warm-up music, the things I play to get me warmed up and ready to rock:
Rich Robinson - Run, Run
Jackson Browne - The Pretender
Jamey Johnson (w/ Leon Russell, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson) - Love Makes A Fool of Us All
Then we got to the show itself:
Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil - At Midnight
Tom Skinner - I Love This Game
Cody Canada & The Departed - Prayer For The Lonely
Jason Eady - Cane River Blues
Kevin Gordon - Colfax/Step In Time
Kevin Welch - Andaman Sea
Cody Canada & The Departed - Cold Hard Fact
Gary Clark, Jr. - Third Stone From The Sun/If You Love Me Like You Say
Neil Young - Psychedelic Pill
Thank you for supporting independent broadcasters, independent music and real musicians. True, raw, passionate, down in the blood, close to the bone, real live musicians and artists. They don't do it for the money, they do it for the love of a song, and the love of the music. Please, what I ask of you is simple. This show is solely produced, directed, hosted by me. I pay all the artists for spinning their tracks, buying their music. I give it away to you for free. What I need you to do is share it. Share this broadcast, share this site, use the little Green Share button down below. Use the web address for this to share it on FB, share it on Twitter, on Google +, on Reddit, with email; but share it. That's my price for giving it away to you for free, with no commercials, no sponsors, no advertisers.

Thursday night's show was simple, easy and clean. 13 artists, who, if this was the '70's, would be superstars. People would be lined up at the record store for their new vinyl, they would sell out ever tour, but because they don't play by the "rules" and aren't on a major label with consultants running their sound, because they do what's true and real, it's up to us and people like us to play them and get the word out. On top of that, listen to the show, and you can find out how you can help people, make a difference, with just a few clicks, and get free Desolation Angel Radio swag, and have me do 85% of the heavy lifting. Give it a listen. The playlist:
Will Hoge - When I Get My Wings
Mindy Smith - When You're Walking On My Grave
Kevin Gordon - Don't Stop Me This Time
Gretchen Peters - Dark Angel
Stonehoney - Feels Like Home
John Gorka - Night Into Day
Hayes Carll - Stomp and Holler
Grace Pettis - Edge of The World
North Mississippi Allstars - Rollin' and Tumblin'
Jimmy LaFave - Bring Back The Trains
Tift Merritt - To Myself
Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires - Total Destruction To Your Mind
John Fullbright - All The Time In The World
Thank you for being a supporter of this broadcast, of all independent broadcasters of these artists and musicians. Thanks in advance for listening to tonight's, especially and doing some good things to help people out. I put this together myself, produce it, finance it, direct it, host it, and pay for all the music here and make sure these artists get paid for their work. Please share this broadcast, this link and keep the Church open, and keep people singing and playing badass music from the gospel of the Desolation Angel. Use FB, Twitter, Google + and any other means possible to share it, spread it and get the word out, and remember to go see someone live and local who plays originals this weekend.
Bless y'all
Kip
