Train kept a rollin' . . . . .
Thursday Mar 03, 2011
Thursday Mar 03, 2011
This week's show - the enduring imagery of trains and the American landscape. Mr. Dylan, telling us it takes a train to cry, Mr. Robertson and The Band taking a last waltz on the Mystery Train; the dearly departed Lowell George and Little Feat riding that Red Streamliner; and a host of others.
In the second hour, songs for the working men and women of America, and an epic (even for me, #EPIC) rant that came up earlier this week with a heavy dose of The Dropkick Murphys, America's favorite Irish workingman's band.
Remember to share this free edition with your friends and neighbors, and comments and ratings take you right up the scale in terms of featuring an artist or band that you may want more focus on next week. Remember to Like the fan page over on Facebook (just look up Desolation Angel) and remember that you can always get this as a free subscription on iTunes.
Enjoy, till next week

It matters. . . . .

Saturday Feb 26, 2011
This week's broadcast, unsigned artists, a DaVinci code hidden within the music, (for those of you who love to connect the dots). Artists include:
Dave Alvin
The Black Crowes
Lukas Nelson & The Promise of The Real (Willie's son)
The Grand Magnolia's and Hightide Blues (Paul McDonald's bands, that name should be familiar after this week)
Wet Willie
Bob Dylan
Bone Orchard Revival
The Romany Rye
Ponderosa
Great American Taxi
Kid Rock
And a host of others, many of them unsigned or unknown. Music matters, a lot. It expresses for us what we don't have words for, otherwise, all we'd have is just that, words. Keep on smilin' and hit it, full tilt and all out. . . .Enjoy! Click "Listen Now" or "Play in pop-up". Please use the little green "Share" button, or use the http address to share the link. Music is one of the few things we've got left that they can't legislatively strip away.

Time heals

Today's is an especially bittersweet broadcast, put together to celebrate the walk of Dad, Norman R. Williams from this world into the next. A celebration of life, and a way to let music express what can't be expressed in mere words. If you've lost someone, if you're feeling alone with your sorrow and grief, come along today. Let your heart not be troubled, let your spirit be lifted and know that you're not alone in your tears. Let them be of both joy and sadness and let the good memories of those you love wash over you. This one's been my pleasure.

Warning: This broadcast may contain different music from different genres and different eras. It may also contain only one type of music from one artist or genre. . . it's all up to the host. This broadcast may also contain commentary, opinion, ramblings, monologues, dialogues and conversation about any topic whatsoever, again it's all up to the host.
This week, some "under the radar" artists, and releases from established ones that are slipping in under the door.
Michael Franti
The Avett Brothers
Sarah Bareilles
The Mickeys (local Kalamazoo, MI band breaking out)
Mumford and Sons
JJ Grey and Mumfro
Ray LaMontaigne and the Pariah Dogs
Amos Lee
Angela McCluskey
Some work from old masters still cranking out fresh ideas
Steve Earle
Jimmy Webb
That and some commentary and words (choice ones) for people who choose to waste their energy "hating" particular artists and genres. Couple of hours worth of music that carries the spirit of spring, sunshine and rain. Enjoy!!!

Great American Taxi
American Graveyard
The Band of Heathens

Back when the radio was our soundtrack. . .

A special Snowpocalypse 2011 broadcast and show, for my families in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and the entire Midwest; for my families in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and the South. Some special messages for all of you, to get you through the next couple of days.
A wake-up special set, that reaches way back to when we lived in McDonald's parking lots on Friday nights and the radio was our soundtrack and Michigan and the Midwest ruled the airwaves, and gave rock and roll to the world.
Bob Seger
The Rockets
Grand Funk Railroad
Songs of Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels
Adrenalin
John Mellencamp
Michael Stanley
The Raspberries
Music that will help us remember that winter will pass, and Spring will come. Share this one with your neighbors and friends, especially my Michigan family, and most especially, my Comstock/Kalamazoo people. Turn it up and dance the snow away.

Back to the sound. . . .
Thursday Jan 27, 2011
Thursday Jan 27, 2011
This week, back into the sound, back into the groove. A few artists you've not heard, which is something I always enjoy doing, and some that may be familiar, but you don't exactly know who they are. Hint: Listen to commercials, those little snippets of song you hear are generally the next artist getting ready to break big. Directors and art directors aren't stupid, and they listen hard to find someone who can catch your ear in just a few seconds.
This week:
Gregg Allman from the new "Low Country Blues"
Lissie - You'll recognize it
Ty Stone - A local Michigan artist, on his first tour opening for Kid Rock
The Black Keys
Social Distortion
The National
And many, many others. Settle back, grab a cup of coffee and break up your mid-winter blues a little bit. Enjoy!

If it's live, then it's what artists really do
Tuesday Jan 18, 2011
Tuesday Jan 18, 2011
This week:
Live music, from the best at interpreting their own music, live cuts from the masters:
The Allman Brothers
Derek & The Dominos
Van Morrison
Led Zeppelin
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Little Feat
There are some artists who can't truly be appreciated unless you've heard them live, or hear their live concerts. It's where they can improvise, stretch and work with a song the way they always wanted to.
Enjoy,
Kip
