Folks, we may be one of the only radio programs in America that would decide to go on the air and go up opposite the Presidential elections, but that's how we roll:
Bob Dylan - A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
Chris Knight - Little Victories
Levon Helm (and about 50 friends) - Toast To Freedom
Steve Earle and The Dukes - The Rain Came Down
Brandon Jenkins (w/ Cody Canada) - Out of Babylon
Waylon Jennings - I Do Believe
Johnny Cash - What Is Truth
Merle Haggard - What I Hate
Kris Kristofferson - Pilgrim's Progress
Jason Boland and The Stragglers - Woody's Road
Bruce Springsteen - Reason To Believe
Michael Stanley - Take The Time
As always, and very sincerely, thanks for being you, thanks for supporting the music and independent broadcasters. Share this as many ways as humanly possible.

The high church of Soulfulness and Truth hit the airwaves on Thursday, with the congregation assembled and working from the gospel of the Desolation Angel. Music is at it's best when it's a clear, pure connection between the music and the songwriter. These artists presented it simply and sparingly, letting the power of the music they were putting out speak for itself:
Scott H. Biram - Just Another River
CW Ayon - Solitary Man
Don Duprie (w/ Doop & The Inside Outlaws) - Let You Bleed
William Elliott Whitmore - Midnight
Molly Gene One Whoaman Band - Reformation
Possessed by Paul James - Older In My Body
Alison Lewis - Blue eyed Brother
Michael Stanley - Rosewood Bitters
Lucinda Williams - Blessed
Don Duprie - If Everybody Was My Friend
Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky
Yes, we went up head on against the CMA's and it was on purpose. Whilst Nashville's glitterati kings and queens of trash-pop country paraded across the stage and patted one another on the back over the millions they're making with the fast one they're pulling on the American public, we hit the airwaves with a roster of people who are devoted to the traditions of songwriting, musicianship, craftsmanship, authenticity and bring it with rawness, passion and the truth and bring it close to the bone and down in the blood (which, I suppose, is why none of them are welcome in Nashvegas). Thanks for supporting them, and supporting independent music and independent artists. Share this as many ways as possible and send the message.

Tuesday's show. All neatly wrapped up in Mp3 podcast form for your downloading, streaming, whenever and wherever you want pleasure for your car, phone, computer, iPhone, Android, iPad, whatever. I normally do just the show, but, tonight's a little different. I always listen to my own music. Don't get me wrong, every cut, every note, every song you hear here is part of my personal library, every last bit of it. But, there's always music that is "mine", music that I listen to to get me in the mood for the show that normally isn't commercially available, bootlegs straight off boards at shows that us grizzled, gnarly old sound men trade back and forth with one another. I'm leaving this week's in, it's a very cool Allman Brothers cut from 1971 that I have, and it also includes a discussion about production, how live shows differ from live broadcasts of recorded music, differ from podcasts, etc. Enjoy.
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Gary Clark, Jr. - Next Door Neighbor Blues
Chris & Rich Robinson - Roll 'Um Easy
Wheeler Brothers - Long Hard Road
Dirty River Boys - Dried Up
Tom Skinner - Gypsy Moth
Willy Tea Taylor - Wrong Way To Run
Waylon Jennings (feat. Jessi Colter) - Storms Never Last
Larry And His Flask - End of an Era
Jim Lauderdale - Alligator Alley
Buddy Miller - That's How I Got To Memphis
Bob Dylan - Shelter From The Storm
As always, thanks for being part of the Desolation Angel Radio Family and hanging out here in the High Church of Rock and Roll. It's always appreciated. There's no sponsor, no advertiser, no commercials and I produce, finance, host and direct the show myself. The only price I charge for getting the enjoyment of listening to these raw, authentic, true, passionate, close to the bone and down in the blood artists is simple. Share this as many ways as humanly possible. Use the little Green Share button below, use FB, use Twitter, use Google +, use email, smoke signals, two cans tied together with a string, whatever.
Enjoy, Peace out

The show took a little different turn last night. We partied, and we partied hard. Yes, we played much of the music that we normally play here. But the rainout on Wednesday of the Tigers-Yankees game put the game on Thursday afternoon, and as soon as the last out was recorded, we hijacked the airwaves and the studio and went on the air a half hour early, and we took over the hour after our normal slot too. Yes, we managed to get a lot of the artists in, and the musical style that we love here, but we also brought a ton of surprises to the party, and we wound up with an incredibly eclectic mix that ranged all over the map from Motown to Bob Seger to Doop & The Inside Outlaws, Alison Lewis, Katie Grace, Matt Dmits, Whitey Morgan and the 78's, Michigan artists all and fit it all in there, we even managed to get in some of artists that we normally play here and I thought it was important to play: 3 Skulls and The Truth, Reckless Kelly, Lucero and a few more. No playlist listing this week, instead, it's just a party, a damn good one, as I got to remember 1968, 1984 and now. . .2012. Remembered growing up in Comstock, in Michigan, remembered a lot of you and celebrated. . . .enjoy!
As always, we here at Desolation Angel Radio thank you, the listener for your support and your help. Without you, there's no show, and no radio station. Be back next week, as always, Tuesday and Thursday. Also, as always, this is free to you. The price? Share this as many ways as humanly possible and spread the gospel of Desolation Angel Radio. . . .

Desolation Angel Radio hit the airwaves last night. There was a debate going, did we care? Hell, no! What we cared about was the music, the bands, the artists that pump the blood through our veins. . .and baseball, of course, which is almost as important as rock and roll. The playlist:
Little Richard - Long Tall Sally
Jerry Lee Lewis & Solomon Burke - Railroad to Heaven
Wanda Jackson - Graveyard Shift
Possessed by Paul James - Four Men From The Row
Molly Gene One Whoman Band - White Girl From Missouri
Father John Misty - I'm Writing A Novel
Jamey Johnson feat. Alison Kraus - Make The World Go Away
Lauderdale - Stars Fell
Matthew Dean Herman - Soule Lake Hotel
Rosie Flores - Working Girl's Guitar
Murder By Death - Ghost Fields
Doop & The Inside Outlaws - Everett Belcher
As always, thanks for being part of what we do here, and thanks for supporting these artists and their work, these bands and their passion, these musicians who put it all on the line, and play it raw, intense, passionate, real, authentic, true, close to the bone and down in the blood. As always, thanks for being someone who supports this, remember to go out this weekend and see someone live and local who plays originals. Share this broadcast as many ways as you possibly know how; social media like Facebook and Twitter, e-mail, word of mouth. See you Thursday

Desolation Angel family, friends and neighbors. 2012 has been one of the best years for music that I can remember since sometime in the mid-70's. Some fantastic music has come out, and this is just an overview of some of the best of the best so far this year. Truthfully, it's pretty complete, since there's only 4 albums left that I'm looking forward to; Wanda Jackson, Jamey Johnson's tribute to Hank Cochran, Cody Canada & The Departed's Adventus and Gary Clark, Jr's new one. What's on this playlist isn't the only music I've heard that I think is great, not the only great albums and CD's to come out, it's the music that throughout the year has stood out as some of the best work I've heard this year:
Ray Wylie Hubbard - South Of the River
Shooter Jennings - Daddy's Hands
Ryan Bingham - Never Ending Show
American Aquarium - Casualties
Chris Knight - You Can't Trust No One
Waylon Jennings - Goin' Down Rockin'
Uncle Lucius - Somewhere Else
Lincoln Durham - Last Red Dawn
Justin Townes Earle - Baby's Got a Bad Idea
Jason Eady - AM Country Heaven
Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard - A Horse Called Music
Lucero - Sometimes
John Fullbright - All The Time In The World
As always, thanks for being part of what we do here. Please go buy these artists CD's straight from their websites (truthfully, there isn't a lot of it here you can find at your local big box store). Share this site and this show as many ways as you know how. I produce it myself, and don't charge for it, and keep it on the air by funding it myself with no commercials and no sponsors. All I ask of you is that you share it; by e-mail, using the little Green Share button below, using FB, Twitter, Google + and telling your friends. Remember that Desolation Angel Radio can be found every Tuesday and Thursday night at 8 Eastern/7 Central on the Outlaw Radio Chicago network as a live nationwide broadcast, and the podcast is always here and can be subscribed to in iTunes. Support your local musicians and go see someone live and local, who plays originals, this weekend.
